GCM outing

Has been a long time since i've met up with peeps from hall 11. We met 5 years ago during freshman orientation camp. No idea how we managed to actually click together, xuan is an english babe and alvin is your typical hokkien beng.
Back in hostel, we use to have midnight gossip sessions, thus we form the term GCM (Gossip Com Meeting, i think its right).
So to the members of GCM, you guys always make me smile at the lamest things.

Birthday week

Birthday!!! Well my birthday week just past and I'm offically a BIG 24. Woohoo. I have yet to reach the stage of ignoring my age, but have began to just have 1 candle on my cake. Had wonderful celebrations this year, thanks to all u guys :)
Well the weekend before my birthday, my family, neighbourhood girlfriends and weisiong kicked off the celebration.

Had my favourite thai food with mum and jie. Coincidently we were all dressed in black :) My sis bought a Hello Kitty cake for me, so sweet of her. The cake looked so cute and I did feel kinda guilty cutting and eating hello kitty up. Haha.

My neighbourhood girlfriends, Amanda, Ailin and Rox, took time off their busy schedule to put together a night of fun and laughter. We all didnt expect to have such a blast and it reminded us of how we use to spend our time together in JC. You girls are always special to me, even if we meet up once in a while. We had Japanese food at Sushi Teh and headed off to Keppel Bay for TCC and played UNO while we sip on our drinks. You would be amazed how much laughter we derived from a simple game of UNO.

Yup met up with wei siong for lunch at ekogawa for jap food and caught a movie after that. Thanks for taking time off to celebrate my birthday despit your long shift hours. Realized that we didnt even had a photo!

Well on the 22nd, my birthday started off when one of my guy friend, Alvin (not Alvin beng from hall 11) turn up at my void deck at midnight with a ice-cream cake and prezzies! I was surprised, totally had no clue. Thanks Alvin, its very sweet of u to go through such trouble.

Headed off to work as usual in the morning and was looking forward to having dinner with uni gang. Surprise, surprise, my colleagues remembered my birthday and they placed a cake on my table when I was on the phone! Yup kind of a "in-your-face" surprise :)

Well met up with uni gang at Shokudo for dinner, the whole gang turned up for once. Thanks for being filling in my dinner slot at such a last minute notice. Thanks to ame for arranging everything. Yup after dinner, we hanged out at alfresco mcdonalds for cakes and drinks, sounds "atas" right (did i spell that right?) Just when I thought I was about to head home, I had a surprise meet up with Ramesh at holland v, till early in the morning!

I was super tired the next day at work and resort to caffine to keep me awake. Another surprise came in the afternoon. I recieved a HUGE bouquet of 21 pink roses and a box of chocolates at work. Flipped open the card and it was from Ramesh! Thanks for being so sweet and I love the flowers! Its so out of your SOP to do such stuff and you really took me by surprise.

I had a wonderful 24th birthday!

Needless pain

What a friend we have in Jesus

All our sins and grief to bear

What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer

O what peace we often forfeit

O what needless pain we bear

All because we do not carry

Everything to God in prayer

Updates

First time in 4 years that I met up with ame and shu for dinner (minus the rest of the gang). We had a burger king for dinner and we tried the new burger (cant recall the name), but the picture on the poster looks kinda sleazy-a silhouette of a man and woman lying next to each other holding a burger. Well, but the buger taste great! Headed over to Ochacha for green tea desserts and of course took silly pictures with the spoons.

Well my housewife instincts are back to haunt me once again, so I have decided to sart baking from the scratch. No more premix. Well the chocolate cake turned out a little too black according to my guinea pigs, but it was moist and very chocolaty!! yummy.

Beauty and Culture

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder"
The above is a very common phrase that we often use to console girls when they fail to attract the opposite sex. Well all of us have different perception of beauty and our culture/environment affects our perception. Imagine if everyone around you tells you that an object which you find ugly is beautiful, how would you feel? You would first doubt their standards and through time conform to the thinking of the majority.
Talking about culture, chinese definately do prefer the tall and slender prototype while indians prefer the curvy prototype. Well looking at my above hypothesis, I know who are my target audience... hahhaha... Yup chances of me getting an indian bf seems a lot higher than that of a chinese bf.
(Realise that I'm trying to be as scientific and theoretical as I can be.)

Nonchalant

Sometimes i choose to be nonchalant about the things that are happening around me, nonchalant about people that come and go into my life.
The process of being nonchalant actually helps one to cope with the torture of excessive thinking. Humans tend to use our brain power in areas that doesnt add value to our life. For example, we put a lot of thought into lost love, lost money and lost opportunities. No doubt its good to learn from our mistakes, but what is lost is lost. Instead of dwelling on the past and self pity, one should use more brain power to device a plan for the future. But more often than not, one's mind wanders into the past whenever one is alone and esp in the night.
I am no exception to wasting a good portion of my brain power to wonder about the past and what could have been done.
I am so lazy that I have resorted to listening to the bible instead of reading it.
